Green Belt Testing Requirements

Physical Requirements

  

7thKyu Yellow to 6th Kyu Green Belt 

1. Kata – Ni Juu Shichi No Kata, Kihon Kata Shodan, Kihon Kata Nidan, Kihon Kat Sandan, Kihon Kata Yondan, Zenshinkotai

2. Self-Defense – Demonstrate how to get out of a single hand wrist grab and single hand shoulder grab with a counter move that immobilizes the attacker

3. Combinations

(a) Side forward, back fist, reverse punch, round kick

(b) Front foot round kick, same foot skip side kick, back fist, reverse punch

(c) Slow motion spinning side kick, without putting foot down, side kick again, turn down block

4. Breaking – 1 hand technique, 1 foot technique and 1 flying or jumping kicks

5. Sparring

6th Kyu Green to 5th Kyu Green Belt

1. Kata – Ni Juu Shichi No Kata, Kihon Kata Shodan, Kihon Kata Nidan, Kihon Kata Sandan, Kihon Kata, Yondan, Zenshinkotai, Shiho Hai

2. Self-Defense – Demonstrate two ways to defend and counter a double lapel grab and one handed hair grab from the front

3. Nunchaku – Kihon Kata

4. Sai - Zenshinkotai

5. Combinations

(a) Knee block, slide forward back fist, reverse punch, front kick and jump double front kick

(b) Slide back, down block, slide forward back fist (same hand), reverse punch, ridge hand (same hand) and spinning hook kick

6. Breaking – Side Kicks (2boards), 1 hand technique and double front jump kick

7. Sparring

5th Kyu Green to 4th Kyu Green Belt

1. Kata – Ni Juu Shichi No Kata, Kihon Kata Shodan, Kihon Kata Nidan, Kihon Kata Sandan, Kihon Kata Yondan, Zenshinkotai, Shiho Hai, Seisan

2. Nunchaku – Kihon Kata, Kihon Kata Shodan

3. Sai – Zenshinkotai, Shiho Hai

4. Self-Defense – Demonstrate and counter the following attackes and end each with a sweep; double hand choke from the front, 1 hand collar or hair grab from behind, bear hug with arms inside from behind and a hook punch to the head

5. Combinations

(a) Slow motion front kick, round kick and side kick using back leg (double without putting foot down)

(b) Slow motion 4 round kicks in 4 different directions without putting foot down, down block, reverse punch to the front.

6. Breaking – side kick (2 boards), 1 hand technique and 1 spinning back kick
