The following requirements are the physical requirements that each student must know in order to attempt to test for
their Black Belt. Students are responsible for knowing and preforming all previously tested material, including katas, weapons, self-defense techniques and basics.
1. Nunchaku – Yoshu
2. Bo – Ryu-Ken
3. Sai – Ro Hai Sho
4. Ippon Kumite #1-15
5. Show Self Defense against the following attacks (these will not be done in continual motion) (1) wrist grab (2) lapel grab (3)
choke (rear or front grab); 3 self-made attacks and defense (attacker must be incapacitated or you must be able to get
away)
6. Breaking – 2 hand techniques, 1 stationary kick (2 boards), spinning back kick, and double front jump kick
7. 5 sets of combinations (3 sets with three techniques (one must be a jumping or back spinning kick), 1 set with 4 techniques
(one must be a jumping or back spinning kick), 1 set with 5 techniques (one must be a jumping or back spinning kick)
1. Open Hand – Ro Hai Dai, Tenshin, Mugen, Bassai, Chinto
2. Sai – Ro Hai Dai, Bassai and Mugen
3. Bo – Shoun No Kon
4. Nunchaku – Yoshu-Dai
5. Show Self Defense against the following attacks (these will not be done in continual motion) (1) wrist grab (2) lapel grab (3)
